5 Things To Keep In Mind When Installing An AV System For Healthcare Learning Purposes

About Me
Choosing Better Audio Visual Equipment

After I started building my home theater, I realized that my place was only going to be as nice as the equipment I installed. I started checking the reviews of a few local places that handled audio equipment, and I was able to find a retailer that really focused on providing quality products. It was amazing to purchase a projector and a screen that really worked well for my needs, and I was really pleased with the results. After my home theater was finished, our friends and family members commented on how professional the image looked. Check out this blog for loads of information on audio-visual equipment.

5 Things To Keep In Mind When Installing An AV System For Healthcare Learning Purposes

One of the best ways for health care students to learn is to actually go back and watch themselves in action. As a health care professor, it is your job to ensure that your students are learning how to be the best health care professionals possible. One way to do that is by pursuing the purchase and installation of an audio visual system. The right AV system can help your health care students learn and perfect their craft. Here are five things you need to keep in mind while going through the purchasing and installation process.

#1 Always Work With Your IT Department

You should not purchase an AV system without consulting with your IT department. Your IT department may be able to provide you with valuable insight into which system may work best for your designed purposes due to their experience working with other professors at your university and being called in to assist with equipment troubleshooting. Additionally, your IT department will most likely be in charge of installing and taking care of the equipment, making it helpful to collaborate with them from the start.

#2 Get Input From Everyone Who Will Use It

Next, make sure that you get input from everyone who will use the AV system. As stated above, it is always a good idea to include the IT department at your college, as they will be in charge of the logistical set-up and maintenance. Consult with other professors in your department who may also be interested in using the equipment for their classes, and figure out what type of equipment you could share and would benefit all of the topics you all teach. Finally, make sure that you get input from the students who will actually be using it; they may have some unique insight to offer you as frequent consumers of technology and health care professionals.

You want to make sure that the AV system you purchase will work with the physical layout of your room, and you want to make sure that it will meet the needs of those teaching and learning at your facility.

#3 Plan For Growth

When purchasing an AV system, make sure that you are thinking about the future as well as the present. Think about how you plan on using the audio visual system this year, and five years from now. For example, if your program has an overall goal of increasing admission by 10% of the next five years, you may want to purchase more cameras up front so that you can have more options in the future with how you and other professors use the audio visual system for learning.

#4 Think About Specific Uses When Choosing A Camera

Make sure that you think about the specifics as well. For example, if you want the cameras to capture students doing detailed techniques such as suturing, you'll need cameras that are set up in the strategic right places in the room that will zoom in and allow you to see in that much detail. Or, if you want to record all the discussions that are held in a round-table type manner, you'll need a camera that has the ability to pan around the room.

#5 Make Sure You Have All The Supplies Before Installation Day

Finally, make sure you have everything set up and all the supplies gathered before the day you plan on installing the system. This is where collaborating on the purchase comes in handy; if you need more wires in place or network cables set up by the IT or maintenance department, they could complete these tasks before the equipment arrives when you include them in the decision buying process.

If you are the professor in charge of purchasing an AV system for healthcare learning purposes for your department at your university, make sure that you include anyone who may be involved with the system in the consultation process, and make sure that the set-up you purchase will fit your schools needs now and into the future.
